Mobile apps and web apps

You have an idea for an app, or a service your customers would happily use on their phone, but you don’t know where to start. The questions are always the same: do you really need an app, or is a website enough? How much does it cost to build for Android and iPhone? Who publishes it, and who updates it afterwards?

We help you answer those questions before a single line of code is written. When an app is the right call, we build it from a single codebase for Android, iOS and the web, publish it on the stores and stay your point of contact for updates.

How we work

1. Analysis. We work out who will use the app, what for, and whether a website or web app would be enough.
2. Prototype. We design the main screens and try them out as a clickable prototype before development.
3. Phased quote. We split the work into blocks with written costs and timelines.
4. Development. We build the app with Flutter and send you test versions to install on your phone.
5. Publishing. We prepare the store listings and handle the App Store and Google Play review.
6. Maintenance. We update the app when new versions of Android and iOS come out and add features when you need them.

Native app, web app or website?

Not every project needs an app in the stores. Here’s how we think about it.

• Website: if people need to find you on Google, read about you, contact you or book now and then, a good fast website is the right choice and costs less.
• Installable web app (PWA): a website that can be added to the phone’s home screen and behaves almost like an app. It doesn’t go through the stores, so it’s quicker to publish and update. It suits internal tools and frequently used services.
• App store app: the right choice when being on the App Store and Google Play matters, or when you need reliable notifications, protected videos or intensive daily use.

With Flutter the choice isn’t final: the same code can produce both the store app and the web version.

A real example

The OCF Exam App lets people preparing for the Italian financial adviser exam practise on the official question bank: quizzes by subject, timed mock exams and statistics on their mistakes. It works on Android, iOS and the web.

The 21Million Academy app brings the courses to your phone with DRM-protected videos (a system that stops videos being downloaded and copied) and the same accounts as the website. Builds and store publishing are automated.
